I moved from S.A. to Coffs that summer and lived up there for a couple of years. Surfed Kirra a couple of times. Moved around for a few more yrs then drifted back to Sth Oz. Cold water and sharks but it was the late 90’s and the crowds at Yorkes were way smaller. I had some awesome adventures. I remember 2 quotes from my life so far that actually stuck with me. “These are the good ol days “ and “ the best time to plant a tree is 10 yrs ago “. I smoked a lot of weed. I’m 47 now my 16 yr old daughter dosent wwant a thing to do with surfing but loves the beach. All my surf memorabilia and boards just. Gathering dust. Drifted away from the surf in my 30’s played heaps of golf for like 15 yrs still live on the beach. Swim every day in summer. Just bought a motorbike Going on massive rides down the coast. Visiting secret spots I surfed over 30 yrs ago. Sometimes I feel like I’m still a grom. But most of the time I’m just a crusty old sea dog with a beer gut who dreams of those Bali trips in the 90’s to Nusa Lembongan. Remember. “ These are the good ol days “ One day you’ll be 47 looking out the window thinking fuck yeah man. The only mates I catch up with now are those mates I travelled with on surfing adventures around SthOz , Australia and the world. Some live in indo , some are lawyers, I’m a gardener. But all top blokes. We have a couple of bbqs a year year and the old shoe boxes full of old school photos get pulled out. It’s hard to keep a smile on your face sometimes but get up tomorrow and start again. Maybe plant a tree and watch it grow. Be proud of where you’re from , love Australia 🇦🇺.

Watching this on acid is scary but amazing at the same time

Id never surf Pipe without my Helmet and I never will. Granted I've only surfed it 8 times in my life because I live on the mainland in the Outer Banks of North Carolina in Buxton. Also, I've never surfed it over 14ft but I wore my helmet every single time regardless. That place dumps on a concrete slab. Technically it's like the cross between concrete and pumice but you guys know what I mean. I enjoy surfing Ehukai Beach Park When all that sand has pushed past pipe And it's one of my favorite spots on the North shore even though that may sound ridiculous but without question My favorite spot to surf on the North shore is Haleiwa Point. Oh and I'm a goofy footer by the way. Love that spot.
